Unable to… assimilate

Posted by: Ayanta on: October 26, 2009

HOLY CELESTIAL BEING:

1. Ship dororibo
2. Wait 2 years
3. ???
4. PROFIT

Oh, you know what I’m talking about.

Sigh. That day at /cm/, in one of those pairings that are not official but seem canon” threads (where some AWESOME anon posted elijahxdaneel omg asdjhdhfdshdfskdf ♥♥♥), I remember how the attempts to claim dororibo as one-sided!canon was denied as delusional.

And today… OTL not even keysmash can convey… I-I never thought I’d said this, but the dororibo thing has reached a point where even I find it… slightly disturbing x’D (VERY)

Didn’t think Doro-sama would exceed Rosenberg at the… er… liking a cyborg-shota too much. Well maybe L·A wasn’t exactly a cyborg, but you know what I mean, he’s some sort of artificial life form (lol Shadow). It’s creepy. YES IT’S REALLY PERTURBING- I CAN’T EVEN DECIDE WHETHER I WANTED THIS TO HAPPEN OR NOT though I guess I actually did otherwise I wouldn’t be so happy about it would I x’D

I just… X’DDDDDD oh lol I pity Matsumoto and Furuya so much. I feel so embarrassed already, that I won’t download this when it comes out (<-the last part of the sentence is a lie)

PS: Ribbons, I already thought your season 2 outfit was horrible, you didn’t need to show me your… AUGH. *runs away*

ROLO-TAN’S BIRTHDAY

Posted by: Ayanta on: October 25, 2009

Not yet haha still 8 or 9 years left until he actually gets one

OTL BUSY WITH HOMEWORK WHEN I SHOULD BE CELEBRATING ROLO’S FALSE BIRTHDAY. Still:

66tanjyou

If you are asking yourself why is he wearing an oversized dress, well there’s no rational explanation other than he looked cute. The roses are there to recreate the ambience that is typical of birthdays ala Lelouch’s ghei brotherly-love style. The adorable amigurumi I got from a friend (gracias Olatz!) ´w` it’s light brown and pink which is my fave color combination <3 (yes, way before Rolo appeared out of nowhere with his lovely light brown ahoged hair and girly pink eyes, because oh, Rolo you just had to be so perfect in every sense~~)

By the way, who told Akinator that Rolo is NOT in love with a man? I can understand that we don’t know whether he’s homosexual or not, and in fact for no reason (perhaps the Banjou no Geass gekijou endings) I’m of the opinion that it would fit him better to like a girl if he ever got over his fixation with Niisan (lol like that could ever happen) but COME ON HOW COULD ANYONE DENY THAT HE IS IN LOVE WITH LELOUCH. Oh wait that’s why… since you wouldn’t call Lelouch a man therefore… I see it makes sense now.

PS: This video speaks a truth too true EVEN I AGREE WITH THIS THOUGHT no matter how much I like Rolo, my nonsubjective side will always rage at Sunrise’s disdain for Shirley. I have to admit (in case it wasn’t obvious) that it makes me happy to see how ridiculously much the staff loves Rolo (seriously if you visit the Banjou no Geass Gejikou blog, there are basically 2 kinds of posts: those that talk about the game, and those that talk about Rolo) but WHY WON’T SHIRLEY BE ACKNOWLEDGED ;_; SHE’S SUCH A BEAUTIFUL PERSON AND YOU WON’T LET HER SHOW UP FOR LULU’S BIRTHDAY IS IT BECAUSE ORIKASA CAN’T MAKE IT THAT DAY OR WTH I MEAN EVEN RIVALZ WILL BE PRESENT
I hope Daichuu doesn’t watch this video though, he’d totally feel guilty and stay in the background during the whole event xD

Another thing that comes up on the video and I want to talk about is the position of turn 19 (so high up!) on the official list of favorite episodes. The episode does have its flaws: 1) Rolo doesn’t appear enough 2) the BK act like OOC idiots 3) using a track that had played for the first time just an episode before – during THE AWESOME FLEIJA SCENE (♥) and that obviously you’d think should be EXCLUSIVE OF THE AWESOME FLEIJA SCENE – was unfitting and distracting because I wanted that music to remain EXCLUSIVE OF THE AWESOME FLEIJA SCENE from my beloved episode 18 which I had watched a thrillion times that week. So, temporary bad choice of music, subverted thanks to BokuTori which merges with the scene so amazingly – just when Rolo is desperately shouting his most impetuous line AS A HUMAN BEING ISHI NAN DAKARA you hear the highest notes of the song AND SUDDENLY WATER COMING OUT OF YOUR EYES NON STOP AWGHHHH I have no words I just… CODE GEASS YOU ARE SO GODLY TO ME

I was actually pointing out the flaws, right? Well, the thing is that the structure of ep19 used to confuse me in the past, but now I understood it. At first I had been so convinced (before the episode aired) that Rolo would need to get more screentime than ever -since he was going to die and all of that-, that when he didn’t appear that much it left me confused. But the BK needed to get their screentime as well because that’s precisely how Rolo’s last action is underlined as specially impressive and moving, because it makes a heavy contrast with the BK’s response. The parallelism goes like this:

1) Lelouch turns kinda violent towards the BK
–> Lelouch turns extremely violent towards Rolo-tan
2) The BK discover that Lelouch has been hiding them his geass all along! He lied and he used them! OMG they’re so pissed off now, let’s kill Zero! They won’t value all that he did do for them, nope.
–> Rolo discovers that Lelouch has been lying to him all along! He was using him! Yet he accepts it and thinks about the good memories instead, being the poor easy to please kid with a tool-complex that he is
3) Kallen needs to mean something to Lelouch, otherwise she won’t stay by his side.
–> Rolo has basically been told that he’s been thoroughly hated from the very beginning. “Haven’t you figured it out yet?!” (<-this is in my opinion, the words that sound cruelest among everything that Lelouch says during his raging moment). Yet he protects Lelouch with his life, it doesn’t matter whether Lelouch will thank him or not afterwards

As it turns out that the episode does have a well-thought structure, I give it much more objective value now. The objective value is that which I *try to* consider before I vote somewhere. I wouldn’t find it fair to claim “Turn 19 is the best episode!” just because through the eyes of a Rolo fangirl it’s so wonderful that it seems almost like a miracle. Then again, the poll asked for you to vote for your favorite episode, and not the episode you think is the best, so I have no reason to feel bad because I did vote for Turn 19 at the time, right…? (I didn’t expect it to get so many votes and I though it was my mission to help Rolo orz)

How come this entry turned out so long lol (the longer the entry, the worse my English). I simply wanted to wish Rolo a happy birthday. Heh, with this I hopefully compensate for all the recent and upcoming absence n_n;

GIUSEPPE KAMATA MAYART HAS CEASED TO BE

Posted by: Ayanta on: October 19, 2009

I spend so many hours doing my homework that I’ve been busy 24/7 OTL *still am* but, I decided to post something so that you don’t go chef Kawasaki and casually assume me dead (“shindan ja nai no~~?“)

So, I downloaded certain chibi movie trailer in HQ because a) it confirms my OTP an eternal afterlife together and b) I am a stupid person who turned ridiculously happy upon watching it. You knew this already. But I have a question, help me out here. Watch the answer turn out to be something so simple that not being able to guess it myself will make it reminiscent of the day I finally noticed the sand on Lelouch’s hands *god was I slow, I still feel embarrassed about that btw*

Here is the picture, and the question! “What is Ribbons holding?

suddenlydororiboagain

Doro-sama seems happy enough to be reunited with his ENJERU (now more so of an enjeru than ever before!), he doesn’t seem to hold much of a grudge. At the same time, Rib-kun looks a bit uncomfortable… I didn’t truly expect him to actually like to stay around Alejandro but if he doesn’t, why isn’t he with the rest of the innovators instead? Why does he choose Doro-sama? Is it because of the golden limo? (I bet) But notice the detail that he’s wearing my beloved outfit from season 1! I’M A VERY PLEASED FANGIRL ・∀・

Or maybe that’s actually Livonze as I always said, and Ribbons is somewhere else that we can’t see on the video (with Anew?…)

Aw, seeing Kinue made me remember how I did enjoy the first season. And now I’m listening to Daybreak’s bell, it feels nostalgic, sob.

Off-topic: I’ve noticed that lots of people are clicking on the post with the sims’ screenshots. I actually got more, I should upload them some time, but these aren’t indecent so you might not find them interesting anymore hehe.

Oh and right now, some kid by the name of Rolo Haliburton has left his name on the register of the Han Continental Hotel in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, Chinese Federation. Another successful mission :D !

EDIT: Okay, that is indeed a steering wheel, since Hong Long is seen driving as well while holding something similar

Differences between e-books and printed books

Posted by: Ayanta on: October 8, 2009

The development of computers has undoubtedly made an impact on many aspects of our life. In the field of literature, the option to display text on screens has raised an important debate: should we publish books on paper or in an electronic format?

E-books offer a variety of advantages and disadvantages in contrast to printed books:

Advantages:

  1. A single e-reader device can store hundreds of books in a portable format. In the case of students, it would avoid the need to carry around heavy textbooks which often cause back pain.
  2. LCD screens emit different amounts of light, which make e-books readable both in the darkness and illuminated environments.
  3. Libraries or bookshops are not always accesible nearby or open at any hour during the day. With an Internet connection, e-books are acquirable immediately anytime, anywhere.
  4. Using stylus pens on the touchscreen, it’s possible to highlight words and add annotations which can later be erased without altering the original appearance of the page.
  5. Electronic text allows for multimedia content to be embedded. Keyword searching and cross-referencing through hyperlinks would improve the utilization of dictionaries.
  6. Self-publishing becomes easier for autonomous authors. Publishers would benefit from the reduction of production costs as well, which would in turn lessen the prices for the readers.
  7. On the ecological side, paper consumption would decrease.
  8. Electronic text can be converted into computer-generated audiobooks. The wider the selection of e-books, the more material made available for the visually impaired or for those who want to listen to the pronunciation of other languages.

Disadvantages:

  1. Not all printed titles are available as e-books.
  2. E-readers run off batteries, which will consume after a limited amount of time.
  3. E-readers can break down and are more fragile than paper books.
  4. The downloadable format of e-books make them easier to copy and distribute illegally.
  5. Many people do not understand how to or are not willing to deal with electronic devices.
  6. Overall, the familiar feeling of owning a tangible book, where one can leaf through the pages and leave their personal traces during the process, is lost in e-readers.

Changing a tradition is not simple, and it does not seem likely that paper books will ever disappear completely. Still, with the rapid digital revolution our society is going through, it is not difficult to assume that e-books will sooner or later gain a popular status.

International Children’s Digital Library

Posted by: Ayanta on: October 5, 2009

The International Children’s Digital Library is an online source of digitized books for children. It was launched in November, 2002, and so far it has achieved a collection of 4347 books in 54 languages. The responsibles behind it aspire to archive more than 10000 books in at least 100 different languages as a goal.

The library offers the possibility to search for books through keywords, or browse them by country, author and other characteristics, such as whether the book is an award winning title or not. Creating an account at the website also allows the user to keep a personal online bookshelf with their favorite titles and memorize which was the last page they were reading, among other things. Printing and downloading of the materials is not however permitted.

In order for a work to be accepted in the database, it must promote tolerance and understanding between people, remain complete and presented in suitable conditions, and be submitted in a digital format.

The responsibles behind this site are the ICDL Foundation, a non-profit corporation. They work to provide the children, parents and teachers of every community in the world a chance to access multicultural literature for kids (aimed at ages 3-13) freely. Their project is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).

Other notable digital libraries which are in charge of compiling a specific type of writings include ERIC (Education Resources Information Center, indexing education-related materials) and Medical Student (stores authoritative medical information).

Copyleft

Posted by: Ayanta on: September 26, 2009

With the appearance of the Internet, authors’ rights over their own works are undergoing a crisis. Since almost any content that is uploaded to the web can be easily downloaded to any computer, the number of people that violate the law by reproducing protected works or distributing them without permission has increased.

Authorities believe that it is necessary to prevent access to this copyrighted material in order to gain more security for the authors and thus stimulate the production and competitiveness.

Nevertheless, there are those who stand against this perception. The license known as copyleft was born as a subversion of copyright laws. Copyleft supporters maintain the idea that sharing promotes team-work, eliminates egoistic attitudes and encourages altruism between the members of a community.

Richard Stallman, coiner of the concept, defines copyleft as follows:

“Copyleft uses copyright law, but flips it over to serve the opposite of its usual purpose: instead of a means of privatizing software, it becomes a means of keeping software free. The central idea of copyleft is that we give everyone permission to run the program, copy the program, modify the program, and distribute modified versions–but not permission to add restrictions of their own.”

Not to be confused with all types of free software, placing a copyleft license requires that any derivative work be distributed under the same copyleft conditions.

Besides informatic programs, the license can be assigned to any other creative product such as books, music, photos, etc.

Apparently even Ookouchi has taken part in whatever it is that they’re working on, so it should be something big alright…

Anyway, what I really needed to write is that I HAVE SO MANY THINGS TO DO that I won’t be updating for a while. Es la razón por la que no consigo tiempo para aparecer por el msn >> I might make some exception when we get more Geass news. Or when the Kaiji live action comes out. And… ehehe, the 27th October. Ah well. I can’t promise anything. So much homework, augh.

And why does every single character that is in love remind me of Rolo? I’m not even the romantic type, yet somehow, reading a book with those descriptions of passionate, desperate, unrequited love makes me think “ahh, that’s what Rolo felt for Lelouch…” and then I feel so moved for real. I must be sounding ridiculous but … I can’t help it! ~_~ I’m not that insane, I swear. I just associate stuff with Rolo too much for my own good. Well in fact it doesn’t really do me any bad, more like the other way around. Being a Rolo fan guarantees a happy life.

I also like how the adjective “angelical” is always present when referring to the object of amorous affections. Inorite? What, this is the third reference to dororibo in a row. Somebody stop me!

EDIT: Yesterday I read that the Asuka manga was still occupied with the FLEIJA thing, but now they’re claiming Majiko!Rolo did indeed kill himself suicide die. Even though he didn’t even have that first year to spend with a temporarybrocon!Lelouch ;A;!! Apparently Rolo’s lines were almost the same as in the anime, and instead of Shinkirou he used a fighter aircraft. Also lol at anon disappointed because Rolo’s Black Knights uniform pants weren’t short.
I’ll have to buy the tankoubon, I guess. I’d like to see how Shirley’s last moments were handled too T.T

Listen to this, Capcom

YES please I’ve been wanting this so badly

Personally I’d prefer an anime based on the cases of the games, rather than new cases because ANIME TURNABOUT GOODBYES ヽ(´▽`)/ AND VON KARMA ♥♥♥♥♥ but in either case (lol pun) they’d somehow include some earthquake so that Edgey can go CURL UP INTO A BALL (I’m so cruel! But it’s part of being a fangirl)

Obviously I’m assuming they wouldn’t base it around the Odoroki times, because everyone likes the GS1-GS3 cast better. THOUGH I CERTAINLY WOULDN’T MIND AN ANIME KRISTOPH ♥♥♥♥♥ but please not with Seto’s futsukushii voice actor again, it didn’t suit him at all, seriously, get some voice that actually resembles his “Igiari!”

No anime has been confirmed and I’m already taking it for granted lol. But there’s just too much potential that you know they’ll need to make one, sooner or later. UNLIKE A NEW DORORIBO SCENE WHICH I’D HAVE NEVER SEEN COMING I MEAN THEY AREN’T THAT POPULAR WHOSE IDEA WAS THAT I HAVE TO THANK THEM PERSONALLY AND AUGHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA *still doing reality checks to see that I’m not dreaming*
